Former senior cybersecurity expert at Agenzia per l’Italia Digitale in charge of the development of the government CERT for the Public Sector (2015-20). Former member (2010-12, 2012-15, 2015-17, 2017-20) of the Advisory Group at the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA). Since 1985 he is professionally dealing with: information and cyber security governance in complex organizations; digital forensics and digital investigations; contrast to cybercrime, cyberterrorism and cyberwarfare; homeland security and protection of critical infrastructures; cryptography and digital data protection; digital citizenship, privacy and human rights. As a corporate manager, since 1999 he has headed medium to large-sized Business Units in primary national and multinational consulting companies and system integrators, leading major projects and providing advice and consultancy in information security and cybersecurity to large customers in both private and public sectors. As a subject matter expert he is an official consultant on cybersecurity and cybercrime for italian police forces and law-enforcing agencies since 1997, as well as an official expert of the Criminal Court of Justice of Rome for computer crimes. He has been member of the National Security Observatory at Ce.Mi.S.S. (Italian Military Center for Strategic Studies) and has cooperated with UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime) on international projects for cybercrime and cyberterrorism contrast. He is a member of the Expert Roster of the ITU (International Telecommunication Union) for cybersecurity. At present he is an adjunct professor in several post-graduate University Master courses such as: 2nd level Master in Homeland Security at Università Campus Bio-Medico of Rome; 2nd level Master in Cybersecurity at Link Campus University of Rome; 2 nd level Master in Cybersecurity at LUISS University of Rome; Master in Strategic Protection of the at SIOI – UNA Italy; International Summer School on “AI and Criminal Justice” at LUISS University of Rome. He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Law and IT Area at Collegio Ghislieri – University of Pavia, and member of the Advisory Council of the Engineering Macroarea at Tor Vergata University of Rome. He lectures for the Public Sector at Formez and at Scuola Nazionale dell’Amministrazione (National School for the Administration). Professional journalist and member of the Italian Union of Science Journalists, he is a frequent keynote speaker and lecturer at many national conferences, as well as being often featured in national radio and television programmes. He authored four books and published more than 1.000 articles. He holds a Master of Engineering (MEng) H.C. in ICT and Internet Engineering from Tor Vergata University of Rome, and several security-related certifications: Lead Auditor BS7799 (BSI, UK), Lead Auditor ISO 27001 (BSI, UK), CISM (ISACA, USA), CRISC (ISACA, USA), C|CISO (EC Council, USA).
